KARACHI, June 19: Mohajir Qaumi Movement chairman Afaq Ahmed on Wednesday urged the government to take firm steps to eliminate the menace of terrorism from society.

Addressing “Azm-i-Defa-i-Pakistan Conference” in Karachi today he said they had decided to celebrate the historical day of June 19 with a resolve to defend the country instead of Salvation-day (Youm-i-Nijat) as terrorism was weakening the country both internally and externally.

He threw light on the circumstances which had led to their separation and formation of their own party in Karachi.

He strongly criticized the operation against Muhajirs by the former successive governments in different names.

He termed the mandate claimed by the different parties in past elections including PPP, PML and MQM as fake and engineered.—PPI
