SARGODHA, June 15: A project of potable water supply to Sillanwali Town has been completed at a cost of Rs15 million.

District Nazim Malik Amjad Ali Noon on Saturday inaugurated the water supply to the town having a population of over 100,000.

Speaking on the occasion, the Nazim said the manifesto of the district government was to provide people basic necessities of life. It also aimed at eliminating class distinction by raising the living standards of rural areas’ residents, he added.

The availability of sui gas, electricity and potable water would be ensured in every village and town of the district under a phased programme, he said.

Water supply project in charge local PHED Executive Engineer Muhammad Shahid Azhar Khan said underground water of the town was brackish and unfit for human consumption.

He said six tubewells of large capacity had been installed at the banks of a canal to provide water cater to the population.

The residents expressed gratitude to the government for solving the problem of water shortage.
