OKARA, June 14: Federal Law Minister Dr Khalid Ranjha said on Friday the government would spend every paisa received from the Asian Development Bank for the improvement of judicial system.

Talking to the District Bar Association at the Quaid-i-Azam Hall in the district courts complex here, he said the ADB had given $3.5 million for the uplift of judicial system. Sixty-one per cent of the amount would be spent in the Punjab and there would be no role of the government of any province to use the donation, he added.

The grant would be spent by a committee comprising chief justices of high courts, district and sessions judges and presidents of District Bar Associations of the district concerned.

The minister handed over a cheque for Rs100,000 to the Bar president for books.

On the lawyers’ demand for a housing colony, Mr Ranjha said the colonies were part of developmental projects of the district and tehsil councils.

Earlier, talking to newsmen, the minister said proper time would be given for election campaign.
