KARACHI, June 14: Engineers, senior army officers, maintenance and complaint staff and motorized tower ladder vehicles of the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation were one of the first to reach the blast site on Abdullah Haroon Road near Hotel Marriott and the US Consulate on Friday morning.

A spokesman said that the KESC MD, Brig Tariq Saddozai, on hearing news about the blast, ordered senior army officers and utility engineers to rush to the site.

The explosion caused the overhead four-span wire of the street light connection on Abdullah Haroon Road to snap and damaged the outer door of the US Consulate electricity sub-station. Power supply to the area was instantly isolated from the main distribution network.

The spokesman also said that power supply to the surrounding areas is normal as the 11 KV high-tension circuit remained unaffected. —PPI
