SHIKARPUR, June 10: Six dacoits were arrested by the Lakhi and Humayoon police on Monday.
A group of eight armed dacoits intercepted trucks near the Sarhandi fish farm on the Shikarpur-Sukkur road to rob them. The Lakhi police while patrolling the area arrived there and foiled the dacoits’ attempt to rob the trucks. However, the dacoits managed to escape.
The police started chasing them. Soon four — Wahid Bux alias Wahidoo Shar, Jhangal Kursi Jatoi, Mazari Kursi Jatoi, and Akhtiar Ali Jatoi — were arrested from the Gulzar Shar village and the Sono Kursi village in Lakhi Taluka. A Kalashnikov, a stolen motorcycle, and a good quantity of ammunition was recovered from their possession. Jhangal who had been injured was admitted at the Civil Hospital Shikarpur.
Meanwhile, the Humayoon police arrested two dacoits — Mumtaz Marfani and Khairo Lund — after an encounter and freed a hostage, Abdul Sattar Sadhayo, and his 15 buffaloes from their possession.
