FAISALABAD, June 10: The Pakistan People’s Party will launch a countrywide mass contact campaign soon to make a solid ground for the return of Benazir Bhutto and muster masses’ support in the forthcoming general elections.

This was claimed by divisional coordinator Raja Riaz Ahmad at a meeting of office-bearers of various wings of the party and prospective candidates here on Monday.

He said final touches were being given to the plan on the directives of Ms Bhutto. Workers conventions, rallies and seminars would be organized in all big cities and towns of the country.

He said people would be informed about the future plans of the PPP and its new manifesto.

Raja Riaz said tickets for contesting general elections would only be awarded to loyalists after receiving recommendations from presidents of their respective districts.

He asked the party office-bearers to hold corner meetings with Nazimeen of union councils and former councillors and inform them about the party policies.

He alleged that foreign and internal policies of the military regime had failed. Not even a single Islamic country supported the policies of Pakistan over all issues especially its stand on Kashmir. But on the other hand rulers are presenting “all-right” reports before the public, he added.

He urged President Gen Pervez Musharraf not to play in the hands of anti-democratic forces and immediately invite Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif for discussions over all national issues by sinking personal grudges and motives.
