Dacoit shot dead in ‘encounter’

SARGODHA, June 9: A dacoit was shot dead in an encounter with police near Bhera, some 50km from here, on Sunday.

Reports said Bhera police on a tip-off raided Muhammad Afzal’s dera near Bhera. The dacoit resorted to firing which was returned. Afzal was shot dead following a three-hour long encounter while his accomplices escaped.

The police claimed the deceased was wanted by them in several cases of murder, dacoity and kidnapping for ransom.
