GCC urges Pakistan, India to end tension

DUBAI, June 8: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministers started a one-day meeting on Saturday in Saudi Arabia where they voiced concern over the escalation of tensions and disputes between India and Pakistan, the official Saudi Press Agency reported.

Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah stressed during an opening speech the GCC’s keenness on resolving disputes between the two states.

“We call upon the two sides to exert the utmost self-restraint, and move towards a peaceful and political solution that could protect the security and stability of the region,” the Omani minister said.—dpa
