HYDERABAD, June 7: A large number of allottees of survey No73, Deh Gujjo, Ahsanabad, Union Council 16 Paretabad, staged a protest demonstration outside the Hyderabad Press Club on Friday against the fraud by the owners and builders of the housing scheme.

Talking to newsmen they said that the owners of survey No73 with the permission of the Hyderabad Development Authority had sold out plots to the people who had constructed their houses on the allotted plots.

They said that the owners had even sold out the amenity plots but now some other claimant of the above-mentioned survey number had also turned out.

They said that no less than 150 allottees had made full payment to the owners/builders but in many cases even the registration of the property had not been completed. The owners/builders had also promised to provide basic facilities under the rules such as electric transformers, sewerage, and roads but this work was also carried out by the allottees themselves on a self-help basis.

They said that the new claimant had filed a writ petition in the High Court and the original owners/builders were taking no interest in the case. They feared that their houses might be demolished.

They appealed to the Sindh High Court to take suo moto action in the matter as they could not afford the services of a lawyer and restore justice to them.

They also appealed to the district and city Nazims and the DCO to order an inquiry against the builders and to provide protection to the poor allottees who had been cheated.
