RAWALPINDI, June 6: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has installed a water purification plant at Alaf Shah Road in Dheri Hasanabad.

RCB president Brig Hamid Khalil inaugurated the plant at a ceremony on Thursday. The plant will supply water to residents of Dheri Hasanabad, Lalazar, Tahli Mori and other localities nearby. A nine-tap water tank has been constructed to supply water to the public twice a day — from 7 to 10am and from 4 to 7pm.

While inaugurating the plant, Brig Khalil asked the people to take care of it. Such plants, he added, would be installed in different areas to make potable water available to cantonment residents.

Residents of Tench Bata, Mughalabad, Azizabad and Noorani Mohallah, who had been facing a severe water shortage, were now connected to the water supply from Khanpur Dam, he pointed out.

Mr Khalil also inaugurated the newly-constructed Alaf Shah- Dheri Hasanabad and Tahli Mori Chowk-Lalazar roads.
