Drug traffickers, dacoits arrested

OKARA, June 4: The district police have arrested two pushers with 25kg of charas, 10kg of opium and 40 litres of liquor and a gang of bandits with a three-wheeler and booty.

This was disclosed by SSP Shahid Iqbal at a press conference in his committee room here on Tuesday.

During a campaign, the SSP said Renala police SHO Sayyid Afzal Shah and his team arrested Rauf Shahid with 25kg of charas and 10kg of opium. He said B Division police SHO Abdul Majid Bhullar arrested a pusher with 40 litres of liquor and five kilograms of charas.

The team also arrested four members of a gang and recovered a three-wheeler, two TV sets, a VCR, a CD player and two bicycles, he added.

The community policing would start during this week and notables in the district would solve the problems of petty nature, the SSP concluded.

DEPRIVED: A police constable was deprived of his motorbike near an edible oil factory on the Okara-Faisalabad Road on Tuesday.

Constable Asad Faheem resident of Thattha Baig was on his way to Okara from his village when four bandits intercepted him, snatched wrist watch and drove away with his motorbike.

BOOKED: The local police on Tuesday claimed to have registered a case against a rice dealer who gave a fake check to a seller.

Reports said Muhammad Boota purchased rice worth Rs587,860 from Muhammad Safdar and gave him a fake cheque which was bounced back by the bank.

Police have registered a case against Boota.
