KARACHI, June 4: A meeting of the Sindh Solidarity Council (SSC) has been called for June 28 to discuss measures to resist the usurpation of water and wealth of Sindh and to bring about a true devolution of power, says a press release.

Sindh National Front (SNF) chairman Mumtaz Ali Bhutto told visitors at his residence here on Tuesday.

He said there would never be any compromise on the principles of the SNF.

He said it was a matter of pride that the SNF convinced the Pakistan Oppressed Nations’ Movement, Sindh Solidarity Council, and the National Alliance to demand the rights of the smaller provinces and a fair distribution of water and other resources of the country.

The SNF was the first to raise these matters in 1986 and now four other political entities, including the MQM, were also demanding the rights of the smaller provinces and implementation of the promise contained in the Pakistan Resolution, he said.

He said it was unfortunate that there were some people who only took a negative approach and found fault with all positive steps although they had nothing to suggest themselves.

A convention of the students’ wing of Sindh National Front would be held in Hyderabad on June 26 to elect new office-bearers, he said.
