PML unification vital: Pagaro

BAHAWALPUR, June 3: The unification of different factions of the PML could only be confined to the province of Punjab.

This was stated by PML (QA) media adviser Syed Tabish Alwari while talking to Dawn here on Monday after his return from Karachi where he discussed PML affairs with PML (functional) chief Pir Pagaro.

He said that Pir Sahib was of the opinion that the PML unity was the need of the hour. For this purpose, he said, two options were being examined — either to form an alliance of all factions or to merge all groups to form a united PML.

Quoting Pir Pagaro, he said the Pir Sahib wanted to keep the PML’s constitution intact.

About the October elections, the Pir Sahib observed that it was not possible to predict about it in the wake of prevailing tension between India and Pakistan, he added.

TRAINING: The local civil defence organization has decided to impart training to citizens in view of tension on borders.

Civil defence officer Mazhar Ahmed said 600 men and women of the Bahawalpur tehsil would be imparted training, including fire fighting, first aid and protection from air raids, from June 10 to 15. Later, these trained citizens would train their fellows, he said.

Similarly, he said such workshops would also be organized at tehsil headquarters of Hasilpur and Ahmedpur East.

ARRESTED: A two-member gang allegedly involved in supplying spurious Ceporex syrup in Bahawalpur and other places was arrested here on Monday.

Police also recovered a large quantity of spurious syrup from the possession of ring leader Faisal of Multan and his accomplice Bagga.
