KARACHI, June 3: The special anti-narcotics court, headed by Judge Ali Nawaz Pirzada, convicted on Monday three drug pushers in separate cases and sentenced them to different term of rigorous imprisonment.
The judge sentenced Nawab Uddin to a four-year term for possessing 1.37 kilogram charas. The drug pusher, arrested on May 1, 1999, by the Azizabad police, was also fined Rs10,000 and he would have to undergo an additional three-month term in case of default on the payment.
Syed Agha, arrested on February 27, 1999, by the Moch Kho police, was sentenced to suffer rigorous imprisonment for four years for possessing two and-a-half kg charas.
The drug pusher was also fined Rs10,000. The judge ordered that the convict would have to undergo an additional three-month term in case of default.
The judge sentenced Saifur Rahman to suffer rigorous imprisonment for 18 months and pay a fine of Rs5,000. The drug trafficker, arrested on October 27, 2000, with 200 grams chars by the Surjani Town police, will have to undergo an additional three-month term in case he defaults on the payment.
BANDIT JAILED: The additional district and sessions judge, South, Farooq Ali Channa, sentenced a robber to suffer rigorous imprisonment for five years.
Mohammed Mushtaq had looted cash from a travelling agency within the limits of the Frere police in 1997.
The robber, convicted after he pleaded guilty, was also fined Rs5000, on default he would have to undergo an additional one-month term.
REMANDED: The judicial magistrate, Central, Allah Jorio Paryar, remanded a worker of the banned Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan to the police custody for interrogation till June 6.
Ata Ullah Bux was arrested on Sunday. The police claimed to have recovered an unlicensed pistol from him.
According to the police, the defunct party worker was involved in several sectarian cases.
