KARACHI: Park in Lyari in dilapidated condition

KARACHI, June 3: Due to mismanagement and lethargic attitude of SITE Town administration, the Trans-Lyari Park, Old Golimar, Karachi, has been converted into a desolate place with vanishing plants and grass.

Trans Lyari Park is one of the oldest and famous parks in the city which provided enjoyment, relaxation and served as picnic point for common people of adjoining areas, including Asifabad, Jauharabad, Hasan Oliya Village and Rexer Colony.

Sources said that more than 200 coconut plants, hundreds of other little plants and four big lush green out-fields in the park have been converted into barren places and yellow sand is blowing over there due to non-supply of water for past seven moths.

It is interesting to note that Trans Lyari Park is the only Park according to new jurisdiction of town administration.

They pointed out that water shortage was created due to theft of water providing machines which were brought outside the park for maintenance and vanished.—PPI
