One Touch sprints to victory

Published June 3, 2002

KARACHI, June 2: One Touch having the services of riding boy Afzal Shahwani in the saddle, sprinted to victory at the Summer Gymkhana Meeting held at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Although the chestnut gelding won without being stretched by the 13 other runners in contention, One Touch bled profusely from the nostrils when entering the unsaddling enclosure.

Charkah Bareen partnered by Tahseen Hussain, ended the pretensions of Lover’s Lady and Dur-e-Yamen in the main event.

The opener was picked up Powerful Tarzan, beating Royal Springs, while Prism Of Life collared Baby Tabassum in the straight to win the next event by two lengths.

M. Mazhar, after taking over the reins from Tahseen Hussain in the fourth event, rode Lover’s Line to a sterling victory over My Time. Wonderful Peace partnered by A. Rahim, beat Donatello by four lengths in the fifth event, while Inferno, smartly ridden by M. Nasir passed Xtasy a few lengths away from the winning post in the sixth.
