Dacoits on the rampage

SARGODHA, May 30: Dacoits during the last 48 hours took away cash, gold ornaments and valuables worth over Rs10 million in different parts of the district.

Three dacoits on Wednesday night barged into Habib Bank employee Hassan Raza’s house in Sultan Colony on the college Road. They held up the inmates and took away cash and gold ornaments worth Rs3 million.

Some thieves decamped with cash and jewellery from one Javed Akhtar’s house.

Three bandits drove away with a brand new tractor of one Mumtaz Ahmad near Chak 48-SB late Wednesday.

Two armed men deprived Ms Tayyaba Zamir Qureshi, a PML(N) worker, of Rs1.7 million. She was reportedly making arrangements for taking out a rally on Youm-i-Takbeer.

Police was reportedly reluctant to go into the matter.

Some dacoits took away mobile sets worth Rs1 million from a shop near Khayyam cinema on the College Road.

Some people stole telephone cables worth Rs200,000, leaving communication disrupted.

CONDEMNED: Scores of people on Thursday took out a rally to condemn Wapda Satellite Town subdivision officials’ inefficiency to supply uninterrupted electricity to the locality.

They complained the officials took hours and hours in rectifying any fault.
