Death sentence upheld

ISLAMABAD, May 30: The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the death sentence of three persons who had killed a man with hatchets over a water sharing dispute.

The three judges bench, headed by Justice Rana Bhagwandas, dismissed the appeals of Khalid Shafique, Mohammad Dilbhar and Khadim Hussain, who had killed Mohammad Sarawar of their village in the fields over a dispute of water share. Malik Nawaz advocate represented the appellants.

The Bahawalnagar additional sessions judge had awarded death sentence to the three persons. When the convicts challenged their conviction, the Lahore High Court maintained the capital punishment.
