Bench to hear Riba pleas set up

ISLAMABAD, May 30: A five-judge Shariat Appellate Bench was constituted on Thursday which would hear from June 6 review petitions seeking reversal of the Supreme Court judgment that has declared all forms of interest as Riba.

The bench will consist of Chief Justice Shaikh Riaz Ahmad, Justice Munir A. Shaikh, Justice Qazi Mohammad Farooq, Justice Dr Allama Khalid Mahmood and Dr Rashid Ahmed Jullundhari.

The government has engaged Syed Riazul Hassan Gillani, Raza Kazim and Raja Akram to plead its case.
