Defiant effort by Hooper

BRIDGETOWN (Barbados), May 29: Captain Carl Hooper hit an unbeaten 76 but India bowled out West Indies for 186 after putting the home side in to bat in the third one-day international on Wednesday.

The game was reduced to 49 overs each as rain continued to disrupt the series with a 25-minute interruption at the Kensington Oval.

Openers Chris Gayle and Wavell Hinds started slowly, bringing up 38 in the first 10 overs before debutant paceman Tinu Yohannan struck two quick blows in his first spell of 7-1-22-2.

West Indies were 53 for three after Brian Lara hit off-spinner Harbhajan Singh to mid-wicket where Mohammad Kaif took a sharp catch inches from the ground. Lara made five.

Skipper Hooper and Ramnaresh Sarwan rebuilt the innings with 87-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

But wickets started to tumble once Sarwan was bowled for 44.
