Raja gets first major ICC role

LONDON, May 28: Former Pakistan all-rounder Wasim Raja will act as the International Cricket Council’s (ICC’s) match referee for New Zealand’s tour to West Indies during June and July, the ICC announced on Tuesday.

Raja, in his first major appointment since joining the ICC’s full-time panel in March, will officiate during the five one-day internationals and two test matches to be played between the sides.

International umpires Rudi Koertzen of South Africa and Asoka de Silva of Sri Lanka will alternate with umpires appointed by the West Indies Cricket Board in each of the one-day games.

Indian umpire Srinivas Venkataraghavan will partner Koertzen for both of the test matches.—Reuters
