LAHORE: Bandits on the loose

LAHORE, May 25: Three men in police uniform on Friday deprived a man of Rs150,000 on the Sarwar Road.

Mubin Ahmad told police he was on his way to office after drawing the money from a bank when three men in police uniform in a car intercepted him. They seized his money bag and motorbike and asked him to come to Sarwar Road police station for having a stolen motorbike, he said.

On resistance, he said, the three men held him up and drove away with the motorbike. On visiting the police station, he claimed, he found nothing.

Meanwhile, two gunmen held up one Khalid and deprived him of Rs140,000 when he was on his way back home in Sanda.

Three armed men barged into one Omar Draz’s house on the Noor Shah Road in Mozang and took away cash and gold ornaments worth Rs120,000.

A truck, three cars and as many motorcycles were driven away in various parts of the city.

FOUND DEAD: Two people were found dead under mysterious circumstances in their houses in different parts of the city.

Naeem Butt, 32, was found dead with a bullet in his head at his house in Naulakha.

Police suspected he had committed suicide.

Aslam, 50, was found dead at his rented house in Factory Area. He reportedly received head injuries.

His room-mate Mumtaz Shah was missing.

The bodies were sent to the city mortuary for autopsy.

SECURITY: Police have made all the security arrangements for Eid Miladun Nabi on Saturday (today).

Lahore Acting Nazim Farooq Amjad Mir and traffic SSP reviewed the measures at a meeting here on Friday.

The participants were informed that strict security measures had been taken for the main procession besides other 25 scheduled to be taken out in various parts of the city.
