ISLAMABAD, May 24: President Gen Pervez Musharraf said on Friday that the destination of worldly and spiritual salvation could be found only by adopting the path of life identified by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

In his message on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the president said: “Let us pledge to enlighten our lives by glowing principles of love, peace, tolerance and mutual respect and to purify our hearts by removing hatred, malice and other prejudices, as practised and preached by the Prophet (PBUH).

The president said: “I congratulate my countrymen and the Muslims of the world on this auspicious day of Eid Milad-un-Nabi. It is a day of reviving our pledge to live our lives in the light of teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This day brings happiness and gratitude for us, the Muslims.”

The president said Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) brought salvation for humanity from the clutches of ignorance. He took out the world from the era of darkness to enlightenment, the president said. His deeds and words are certified by Allah to be of pristine virtue. Allah declared his virtuous and pious ways as symbolic and immaculate example to be followed. The destination of worldly and spiritual salvation can be found only by adopting the path of life, the Prophet identified, he added.

Let us pledge to enlighten our lives by glowing principles of love, peace, tolerance and mutual respect and to purify our hearts by removing hatred, malice and other prejudices, as practised and preached by the prophet, the president said.

“I pray to Allah Almighty to enable us to practice his holy and pious ways,” the president added. —APP
