JWP welcomes boycott of APC

Published May 24, 2002

QUETTA, May 23: Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) Senior Vice-President Khudai Noor said on Wednesday that all the parties of the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) and those that attended the all parties’ conference in Lahore had refused to attend the APC convened by President Gen Musharraf.

Speaking at a press conference here with JWP Secretary-General Mir Abdul Jabbar and other leaders, he lauded the decision of the ARD and other parties regarding the government’s APC.

He said the chief of the JWP, Nawab Mohammad Akbar Khan Bugti, had not received invitation from the government for the APC.

He said that despite serious crisis being faced by the country due to heavy deployment of forces by India along Pakistan’s borders the military rulers were taking decisions without taking the people into confidence. On the other hand the Indian prime minister had taken all political parties of his country into confidence and its parliament had passed a unanimous resolution on the war issue, he said.

He warned that people were fed up with military rule and in case of war they would not support the army.

He said that if Gen Musharraf accepted the demands of the APC and the ARD, all political parties and people would fight along with the army in case of any aggression.
