HYDERABAD, May 23: To review the arrangements for the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal celebration in a befitting manner, a meeting was held at the Shahbaz Hall here on Wednesday.

The meeting, which was presided over by Hyderabad District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman, was attended by Ulema, DPO, EDO (works, health) and other officials concerned.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr Rafiquzzaman urged Ulema and general public to maintain peace on the auspicious occasion of Rabi-ul-Awwal.

He asked the participants to recommend names to reconstitute the district peace committee. Taluka Nazims would also constitute peace committees at taluka level, he said.

He said a four-member committee would be formed under the chairmanship of the DPO which would recommend the name of the best illuminated place on the occasion of 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal so that award could be given to the administrators of the place by the district council.

Referring to complaints against the Hesco of disconnecting power supply to streetlights from where the processions will pass, Mr Rafiquzzaman said the problem would be resolved during his meeting with the Hesco chief.

He said a directive would be issued to cinema owners to close their cinemas on 11th and 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal while cable operators would be asked to telecast only news and sports channels.

Speaking on the occasion, DPO Moazzam Jah Ansari said that after 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, nominations would be called from various organizations to constitute a religious peace committee.
