Two PTCL officials suspended

DADU, May 23: Following an enquiry, two divisional engineers of the PTCL were suspended by its chairman on charges of misappropriation of funds on Thursday.

The suspended engineers, Basheer Ahmed Soomro, divisional engineer telegraph (DET), Dadu, and former DET Dadu Zulfiqar Ahmed Solangi, had not paid electricity bills amounting to Rs14 million meant for the telephone exchange, Thana Bula Khan, during the period 1998 to 2001 and had not perused the bills of electricity with Wapda authorities.

M. Khan Shaikh was appointed as Dadu DET, while Gulzar Ahmed Soomro was appointed Larkana DET.

The funds allocated for various expenses including repair of the telephone exchanges of different divisions including Nawabshah, Naushahro Feroze, Dadu, Larkana, Sukkur, Ghotki, and Jacobabad were misappropriated.

The director general, finance, PTCL, Islamabad, also checked the accounts at different times and wrote to the general manager of the PTCL, STR-V, Sukkur region, and an inquiry was conducted against the general manager of the STR-V, Sukkur region, Syed Mureed Ali Shah, deputy general manager, Ghulam Rasool Mangi, who is the DDO of the region, on charges of misappropriation of funds.

CLASH: Five people were injured in a clash between two groups over distribution of a plot in Sehwan, on Thursday.

The injured were identified as Niaz Hussain, Khadim Hussain, Sattar, Zahid, and Ghulam Hussain.
