KARACHI, May 21: Patients belonging to low-income groups in Liaquatabad Town and the adjoining areas are facing immense problems at the hands of the administration of the Sindh Government Hospital, Liaquatabad.
The hospital, which has recently acquired modern equipment for physiotherapy worth Rs50 million, from a philanthropist, can facilitate over 5000 patients and is the only source for cheap medical treatment for low-income groups of the area.
The sources at the hospital said that for last few weeks the administration of the hospital had been refusing treatment to over 5000 patients registered for physiotherapy.
They alleged that the administration wanted to deprive patients of cheap treatment by disposing of the equipment.
They informed that the expenses of the treatment of patients was borne by philanthropists providing funds to the hospital.
But ever since the change in the behaviour of the administration, they had been reluctant to provide funds to run the physiotherapy centre.—PPI
