Unscrupulous owners violate LRC rules

LAHORE, May 19: Some unscrupulous owners are evolved in a novel modus operandi to benefit their horses in handicapping and win races.

The owners illegally shuttle their horses between Lahore and Rawalpindi Race Clubs under different names to hide their identitification and hoodwink handicappers at both the upcountry racing centres to seek favours in handicapping.

This came to light when an owner took his bay gelding Capricorn from Lahore Racecourse to Rawalpindi Racecourse without getting prior approval of the racing authorities in Lahore.

In  Rawalpindi he got Capricorn registered under bogus name of Shouzy Love. The horse ran in races there and won a race and was again brought back to Lahore without permission of the Rawalpindi Race Club authorities. In Lahore he was given his original name Capricorn.

It was further revealed that some other owners too have been engaged in such tactics. The Lahore Race Club authorities are probing such cases for punitive action against owners involved.—AG
