Zafar and Tariq emerge winners

LAHORE, May 19: Zafar Hussain (Wapda) and Tariq Ghani (Punjab) won the senior and junior events, respectively, of the Punjab Open cycling championship at the cycling Velodrome Sunday.

In the women’s Olympic sprint event, Lahore Greens won the race while Lahore whites was runners-up. Greens comprised Hina Bano, Aneela Ayub, Uzma Malik. Beenish Hayat, Saadia Rahman and Misbah Mushtaq made up the whites team.

Zafar won both the events in the senior’s category which included one Km time trail and four Km individual pursuit. Similarly Tariq won both the events in the Juniors category.

Results:

Seniors:

One km time trial: Zafar Husain (Wapda) 1:16.36, Muhammad Ashraf (Wapda), Shamsher Ali (Wapda).

Four km individual pursuit: Zafar Husain (Wapda) 5:45.00, 2. Shamsher Ali (Wapda), Muhammad Ashraf (Wapda).

Juniors section:

One km time trial: Tariq Ghani (Punjab), 1:26.00, Shakeel Shahid (Punjab), Nazir Bhatti (Punjab).

Four km individual pursuit: Tariq Ghani (Punjab), 6:00:29, Nazir Bhatti (Punjab), Nabeel Qasim (Punjab).
