PESHAWAR, May 18:: Top seed Omer El Borolosy of Egypt and second seeded Mansoor Zaman of Pakistan Saturday advanced to the semifinals after registering victories in the quarter- finals of Pakistan International Circuit 1 squash tournament being played at PAF Squash Complex here.
In the first quarterfinals top seed Omer El Borolosy of Egypt, whose ranking in the world is 20, scored a straight sets victory against Lars Harms of Czech Republic.
It was a one-sided affair as Borolosy dominated the proceedings and never gave allowed Harms, number six seed and ranked 50 in the world, to exhibit his shots with free hand. The Egyptian was in superb form and he just took 43 minutes.
The second quarterfinals ended with local boy Mansoor Zaman, ranked 31 in the world, beat Liam Kanny, who ranking in the world is 53 and seeded eight in the tournament also in straight games. The match lasted for 49 minutes and the score was 15-7, 15-7 and 15-13.
In the other quarterfinals Shams-ul-Islam downed Ejaz Azmat 15-10, 17-14, 15-10 while Jean Michel Arcucci of France shocked Shahid Zaman 8-15, 15-6, 15-9, 10-15 and 15-10.
