MIRPURKHAS, May 18: The power supply to some 10 offices of the government departments was disconnected by Hesco, Mirpurkhas division, here on Saturday for non-payment of the dues amounting Rs53.3 million.

The departments whose power supply was disconnected are police department (Rs1 million), education department (Rs0.9 million), District Coordination Office (Rs0.35 million), Scarp (Rs14.7 million), health (Rs0.6 million), public health department (Rs0.7 million), municipal committee, Mirpurkhas, (Rs6.3 million), town committee (Rs5.2 million), departments of district council (Rs4.2 million), Auqaf department (Rs0.1 million), T&T department (Rs10.9 million), general post office (Rs0.297 million), and irrigation department (Rs0.5 million)

It may be mentioned here that the Sindh government had adjusted all dues of Wapda against its departments till Dec 31, 2001 and had directed all departments to pay their electricity bills regularly and the government would not pay the dues of any department.

Irrigation officials: Despite the acute water shortage and rotation at Mithrao division, the Nabisar branch was flowing in full swing.

A survey, conducted by this scribe the other day, confirmed that the branch was opened and had been getting full gauge water for a last couple of months.

When this scribe visited the Samaro regulator, near Samaro town, and found that for the first time in the history, the Mithrao canal was completely closed with the support of hundreds of sand bags but water was being supplied to the Nabisar branch.

Many growers of Samaro sub-division complained that officials were not implementing the rotation programme.

The survey also revealed that 100 per cent agriculture land of Nabisar sub-division was cultivated while other areas, including Samaro sub-division, were having only 20 to 30 per cent cultivation.

QJP: The elections of the Qaumi Jamhoori Party, district Mirpurkhas, were held here on Saturday.

Gulab Khan advocate was elected chairman, Mohammad Siddique, vice chairperson, Syed Mohammad Mubeen, general secretary; Mohammad Haneef Arain, joint secretary, Salahuddin Shaikh, finance secretary and Mohammad Saleem Shaikh, information secretary.

WEAPONS SEIZED: About 16 arms were seized and one accused was apprehended by police in the district during 24 hours.

Samaro police conducted a raid near the Otaq of Khatri advocate, taluka Samaro, and seized 15 weapons, including nine 12 bore guns, five rifles, and a 30-bore pistol.

A case under section 13/E/AO, has been registered with Samaro police against the unknown accused.

The Kunri police carried out raid at Talhi town and arrested Mohammad Bux Samoo and seized one unlicensed 12-bore repeater from his possession.
