Musharraf, Sikandar discuss uplift plans

ISLAMABAD, May 17: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan here on Friday apprised President Gen Pervez Musharraf about the projects for development and poverty alleviation being undertaken in AJK.

He discussed the measures being taken by his government for welfare of people living close to the Line of Control, who were badly affected by Indian troops’ firing.

The president assured the AJK premier that the Pakistan government would continue to uphold its principled stand on Kashmir and highlight the issue at all forums.

The AJK prime minister congratulated the president for his success in the referendum.

Sardar Sikandar appreciated the assistance being provided by the government of Pakistan in various developmental projects in AJK.
