QUETTA, May 17: The Balochistan government on Friday terminated the services of 178 activists of Government Teachers’ Association (GTA) for observing illegal strike for the last five weeks.

According to a notification, the GTA was observing an illegal strike since April 14 resulting in closure of 50 per cent schools in the province.

The education department held negotiations with leaders of the GTA and assured them that steps would be taken for resolving their problems but they continued their strike.

The notification, however, said that they could file appeal with the chief secretary against their termination within 15 days.
