KARACHI, May 17: The Sindh Local Government Commission, constituted by the provincial government under an ordinance to settle the disputes among the local councils, has received several complaints, mostly against Nazims and councillors, and some by Nazims against bureaucrats.
A few cases have also been referred to the Commission directly by the Sindh governor’s secretariat and the chief secretary. They include election of 80 aliens as Nazims, Naib Nazims and councillors, illegal constitution of committees by the district council Mirpurkhas and undesirable activities of the Nazim Landhi and the Nazim union council-II Korangi, Karachi, official sources said.
The district Nazim of Jacobabad has lodged complaints regarding payment of development and non-development funds, approval of tenders and distribution of sewing machines, cycles and hand pumps without his prior approval.
The members of Taluka council Mirpur Mathelo, district Ghotki, have challenged the budget passed by the district council terming it bogus.—PPI
