TOBA TEK SINGH, May 14: An eight-year-old boy was killed in a crossfire between two rival groups in Chak 184-GB on Tuesday.
Sardar Manzoor Gadhi and former sub-inspector Qalab Abbas Shah had an old rivalry. Members of both the groups were engaged in exchange of fire when a bullet hit Shawal Khan who was playing in the street. He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
SI Qalab Abbas was removed from police service some time ago.
Rajana police have registered a case. No arrest has so far been made.
ACCIDENT: A Gojra Tehsil Headquarters Hospital medical officer died in an accident on Tuesday.
Dr Zafar Manzoor was on his way to Faisalabad by his car (FDB-915) along with his family. When he reached near Chak 283-JB, his car overturned due to speeding. Dr Zafar died on the spot while his family members sustained injuries. They were admitted to the Gojra hospital where they were stated to be in stable condition.
PLUNDERED: Dacoits on Monday night took away cash worth hundreds of thousands of rupees in two strikes in different parts of the district.
Petrol pump owner Muhammad Akram was on his way to pump when three dacoits intercepted him near Chak 399-JB. They looted cash from him, destroyed his bike and fled.
Meanwhile, a gang of dacoits took away cash worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from a petrol pump on Gojra-Painsara Road.
