Sikandar steals limelight

LAHORE, May 13: Sikandar Khan (Punjab), stole the limelight by winning in six events, and creating three new records, out of a total of nine events, held in the Inter-Provincial Under-16 swimming championship at Islamababd, according to information received Monday.

Punjab won all the nine events to grab 111 points. Islamabad and NWFP with 52 and 39 points were placed second and third respectively. The competition concludes Monday evening.

The Punjab Sports Board director Khalid Masood awarded a cash prize of Rs 5,000 to Sikandar for his outstanding performance in the meet.

Results:

400m freestyle: Sikandar Khan (Punjab), 5:12.19 (new record), Shan Lashari (Punjab), Hafiz Jawad (Islamabad).

100 m breaststroke: Faizan Khan (Punjab) 1:32.29, Farhan Israr (NWFP), Omar Ahmad (Islamabad).

50m freestyle: Sikandar Khan (Punjab) 28.59 sec, Usman Javed (Punjab), Husnain Mahmood (Islamabad).

100m butterfly: Sikandar Khan (Punjab) 1:19.73, Usman Javed (Punjab), Muhammad Azeem (Islamabad).

4x100m freestyle: Punjab (Sikandar Khan, Shan Lashari, M Sami, Usman Javed) 4:53.88, (new record), Islamabad, NWFP.

200m freestyle: Sikandar Khan (Punjab) 2:21.00 (new record), Usman Javed (Punjab), Hafiz Jawad (Islamabad).

200m back stroke: Usman Javed (Punjab), 3:2.76, Raza Ali (Punjab), Taj Khan (NWFP).

200m individual medley: Sikandar Khan (Punjab) 2:39.03 (new record), Usman Javed (Punjab), Adnan (NWFP).

200m breaststroke: Sikandar Khan, 3:7.34, Usman Ahmad (Islamabad), Farman Israr (NWFP).
