ISLAMABAD, May 11: The Pakistan Amateur Athletic Federation (PAAF) Saturday organised the World Athletic Day at the Jinnah Stadium as directed by IAAF, the game’s international governing body.

The event is organised each year to promote and develop junior athletics. A large number of boys and girls took part in different events in which keen competition was witnessed.

The following are the results:

110m hurdles: Muhammad Aslam 15.11, Fateh Khan 15.20, Mohsin Farooq 15.31

1500m: Ihsan Ali 4:07.70, Zaheer Ahmed 4:09.20, Farasat Munir 4:12.40

Long jump: Munir Ahmed 6.78, Muhammad Riaz 6.57, Sher Nawaz 6.19

200m: Afzal Baig 22.43, M. Sajjad 22.57, Sher Nawaz 22.98

Shot put: Basharat Ali 16.48, Mushtaq Hussain 16.18, Ashiq Hussain 15.53

Girls 100m hurdles: Aaliya 19.69, Shabana 19.83, Najamun Nisa 19.99

100m: Samreen Shahid 14.10, Raheela Aslam 14.64, Rashna Usman 15.52

800m: Raheela Aslam 2:58.60, Samreen Shahid 3:00.89, Mehwish Ali 3:15.62

Long jump: Samreen Shahid 4.06, Nighat Parveen 3.96, Shabana 3.89

Shot put: Nighat Parveen 7.22, Ulfat Zaman 6.99, Samia Khalid 6.36.

After the competitions, the participants were awarded certificates specially sent by the IAAF.
