Fly To The Sky should sprint to victory again
KARACHI, May 11: Fly To The Sky clocking one minute 3 3/5 seconds while speeding to victory over five furlongs last week with plenty to spare, starts off as our day’s best, when the Summer Race Meeting gets under way at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday afternoon.
Although promoted up the order and now contesting in stronger company in the concluding race, the three-year-old bay filly owned by M. Ateeq with jockey Ashiq Ali once again in the saddle, should leave the rest of the field in her wake, sprinting past the winning post ahead of Walking Distance (who got away scot free after playing truant last week) and Xtasy.
Another runner that should not lose on Sunday is another bay filly Joan Of Arc, also from the stables of M. Ateeq. Running in the fourth event of the afternoon with a big field of 18 runners in contention, Joan Of Arc is fancied to hold off the spirited challenge from Ever Shine and Maha Sagar.
The same could be said about the dark bay filly Black Magic, piloted by Fayaz Khan last week whilst finishing a good third behind Just In Fun and Always In.
A chicken in the weights in the third race with 14 runners in contention, Black Magic with a good lad astride, should not let the connections down and register a thumping victory over the game Always In and Sajan Black.
All in all, seven events have been chalked up on the racing card, all going over the sprinting distance of five furlongs.
The first race of the afternoon begins at 2.00 p.m.
The 13-year-old bay gelding Law Of Nature is in a class of his own in the opener and should lower the colours of top weight Baby Tabassum and Lucky Love in a big field of 18 runners.
Another 13-year-old gelding Hogan, finishing fourth last week under seasoned rider Hashim, should make amends and pick up the spoils in the second race, closely followed home by Ever Green and Prism Of Life.
If he should stay on a straight course, the chestnut horse Satellite Star could win the fifth event from Bach Fly and Lucky One, although danger may lurk in the shadows in the form of top weight Knight Fighter.
My Darling, a chestnut filly from Flaming Arrow out of former Derby winner Yes My Darling, tracking extremely well in the morning exercises, is fancied to romp home to victory in the sixth race, followed home by the thoroughbred chestnut colt Strategic and Wonderful Peace.
