SUKKUR, May 11: On a tip-off, a special team raided the house of Achar, son of Samoto Bhambhro, in Achar Bhambhro village, Nara, and arrested four traders engaged in selling deers.

The traders were identified as Abdullah Bhambhro, Mohammad Samejo, Mohammad Achar and Manak Bhambhro.

According to Deputy Conservator Wildlife Hussain Bux Bhagat, the gang leader Abdullah Bhambhro is resident of Umer Kot, and has confessed of trading in wildlife. He also paid a fine of Rs30,000 on the spot.

Abdullah said that he was engaged in trapping the newly-born baby deers from the Thar Desert of Khipro Chor, Umer Kot.

During similar raids at Nara desert, 15 more poachers were arrested. These poachers were challaned under Sindh Wildlife Protection Ordinance, 1972, and were fined Rs 63,500.

notices issued: The Sindh High Court, Sukkur Bench, consisting of Justice S.A Sarwana and Justice Syed Zawwar Hussain Jafri on Friday issued notices to Sukkur taluka Nazim Syed Kazim Ali Shah and the Pakistan State Oil, Karachi, to appear before the court on May 15, to explain why the allotment of PSO petrol pump near the Masoom Shah Library should not be cancelled.

The court issued notices on a petition filed by Mohammad Mehmood Khan Yousfi, advocate, through Advocate Nizamuddin Baloch in which he stated that the Taluka Nazim of Sukkur had allotted a plot to PSO, Karachi, for installation of a petrol pump near the Masoom Shah Library, which is “unlawful and immoral”.

INQUIRY ORDERED: The Sindh Home Department has ordered an inquiry into the alleged breaking of lockers of the Accountability Court, Sukkur, by SSP, DPO, Additional SP and ASP, Sukkur.

The District and Sessions Judge, Sukkur, will hold the inquiry.

The court has requested people with information over the issue to appear before the court on May 20.

SHOT DEAD: Three persons, including a girl, were killed in separate incidents in Sukkur, Baberloi, and Qazi Ahmed the other day. Police have registered a case against five persons, including Yaqoob, Mumtaz, Ghaffar, Zamir Narejo and others.
