KHAIRPUR, May 11: At least 44 villages will be provided electricity while 45 new metalled roads will be constructed in Khairpur.
This was disclosed by the district Nazim, Nafeesa Shah Jilani, here the other day While speaking at a press conference at the circuit house, Khairpur.
She said that the construction of the roads would be completed by June 30, while the villages would be provided electricity by Dec 31, 2002.
She further said that 49 rural drainage schemes, 3 water supply schemes, 24 pavement schemes and 31 education schemes had been sanctioned.
She informed that the district government would also award scholarships of Rs600,000 to the girl students from class 6 to 10.
Answering a question, she said that every union council of the district would be given Rs1 million. She added that taluka council had been granted separate schemes.
COMPUTER FEE: A delegation of students’parents led by Syed Shakir Ali Shah met the newsmen on Thursday.
They told them that there was no computer science in any school but the students were being forced to pay Rs80 to Rs 90 monthly on the pretext of computer education.
They further said that those who did not pay the fee, were threatened that they would not be allowed to appear in the examinations. They added that the students were also being harassed for not paying the fee.
The delegation appealed to the secretary education and the governor to order an inquiry into the matter and demanded free computer education for the students.
ROTATION PROGRAMME: The executive engineer, irrigation, west division, Khairpur, has announced rotation programme for the channels of irrigation west division, Khairpur.
The waterways have been divided into two groups for rotation purpose.
In first one, Rahuja, Abad, Kingri, Bodli, Fareedanad, Bhatti, Ahmedpur, Allahabad, Lalan, Dinal, Turi, Abul, and Hamerji minors and DORs Jamsher to D/s Ripri x-regulator have been opened from May 4. While in second group Kaber, Baberloi, Kupri, Faiz, Phul Wahan, PIryaloi, Haider, Salar, Jamsher, Faiz Nahar minors and DORs to Jamsher x- regulator will be opened from May 12 to May 20.
SUICIDE: A youth, identified as Syed Bhoral Shah son of Syed Khair Shah, committed suicide by taking poison the other day in the village Duhalwaro, taluka Nara.
The cause of the suicide is said to be some domestic problems.
