KARACHI: Bodies of 11 Frenchmen sent home

KARACHI, May 11: The bodies of 11 Frenchmen, killed in Wednesday’s terrorist attack, were flown back to France on Saturday in a special aircraft.

The bodies were handed over to the French authorities at a special ceremony in PNS Shifa. French ambassador to Pakistan Yannik Gerard, Counsel-General Gilles Bonnaud, Commander of Karachi Rear Admiral Mohammad Haroon, Rear Admiral Mushtaq Ahmad and French and PN official were present at the ceremony.

The French ambassador and the Commander of Karachi laid wreaths on the coffins. Wreaths were also laid on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and workers and civilian staff of PN Dockyard.

Later, Father D’Silva, nominated by the Bishop of Karachi, offered prayers and the services of the individuals were read out.

After laying the wreaths, all the attendants walked past the coffins which were later carried to Quaid-i-Azam International airport and loaded into the special aircraft.

The PN’s commander for logistics also left for France to attend the funeral there.
