LAKKI MARWAT, May 10: The NWFP governor has approved the establishment of a boys degree college at Serai Naurang.

District Nazim Humayun Saifullah Khan visited the site for the college  on Wednesday and reviewed arrangements for the commencement of classes in  the coming session,  said  a statement.

The college is being set up over 34 kanals of the vacated land of agricultural engineering and extension department, where a building having many rooms, hall and the necessary infrastructure are available.

Acting District Coordination Officer Syed Khalid Israr Shah, Union Nazim Mohammad Yaseen Khattak, district heads of education, works and finance departments, councillors and officials were also present.

Humayun Saifullah expressed gratitude to Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain  Shah for approval of the college and allotment of land worth over Rs40 million. he said it would meet the longstanding demand of the people of Serai Naurang.

He directed immediate release of Rs1 million for construction of four classrooms and boundary wall and conversion of existing rooms into classrooms, administration block and laboratories. He assured those present on the occasion that more funds would be provided.

He constituted a committee headed by Xen Works Rasheedullah Khan  for construction of a modern building at the college. The includes Finance EDO Bashir Khan Marwat, Education EDO Nasrullah Khan, Lakki Marwat Government College Principal G.R. Anwar and Works AD Aziz Khan.

The district Nazim directed preparation of a master plan for starting classes in the college from Sept 1 and construction of a modern U-shaped double-storey building. He said the college could be upgraded to university level.
