TMA, Railway at odds over plaza

FAISALABAD, May 10: No one would be allowed to violate Building Laws and develop plazas without fulfilling the requirements of the Tehsil Municipal Administration bye-laws.

This was stated by Tehsil Municipal Administration (city) Nazim Mumtaz Ali Cheema here on Friday.

He said the railway authority had without getting NOC and depositing required fee allowed its private consultant to develop a multi-storey plaza by demolishing a century-old historical bungalow.

The TMA, he affirmed, would not compromise with any authority whatsoever and action would be taken against those who were indulging in illegal constructions.

Commenting on the reports of registration of a case by Railway police, he said the TMA would resist every move to construct the illegal multi-storey plaza.

Meanwhile, the PMA called an emergent session of the house on May 13 to discuss the causes leading to the registration of the case against City Nazim and other officials. — Correspondent
