LAHORE, May 9: District coordination officer Tariq Shafi Chak directed the Lahore market committee chairman Talat Ahmad on Thursday to immediately start investigating the disappearance of the committee’s record for the past 10 years.

Earlier, the LMC chairman informed the DCO about the disappearance of the record at a meeting of the district development committee presided over by the DCO. He said the record pertaining to 1992 to 2001 could not be traced.

He also said he suspected excessive payments for the construction of the LMC building on Lower Mall completed during the period. The DCO asked him to get the matter investigated and report the findings to him for further action.

The committee sanctioned Rs3.2 million for necessary repairs at the Ravi Link Road Fruit and Vegetable Markets. Mr Ahmad informed the committee that the roads and platforms at the two markets required renovation. The concrete pillars supporting the roofs on the platforms, the drains and the concrete slabs covering the manholes for the sewers also required repairs. — Reporter
