Karachi Port operations

KARACHI, May 9: The activity at the Karachi Port is expected to pick up further as nine ships are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.

Meanwhile, berthing of the dry cargo and container vessels was maintained on the higher side where six ships were berthed after the sailing of five.

The ships, which were berthed included Lanka Mahapola, Safe Marine Ruvu, Leixoes and Al-Mirqab to unload and load containers, Banglar Kakoli to offload general cargo and Meriom Star to load molasses.

The ships, which departed were led by Lanka Mahapola, Wan Hai-235, Sandos, Al-Mawqwa, and Al-Velos, while Safe Marine Ruvu, Leixoes and Mol Sincerity are due to depart on Friday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was active where a total tonnage of 77,824 tons comprising 17,829 tons of export cargo and 59,995 tons of import tonnage was handled.
