Canal rotation plan modified

KHAIRPUR, May 8: The water rotation programme has once again been modified in the irrigation, west division, Khairpur.

This was disclosed in the third schedule of water distribution issued here on Wednesday.

The canals have now been divided in three groups and canals of one group will remain open, while water supply in the canals of remaining two groups will remain closed.

The canals of group one which include Rahuja, Abad, Kingri, Bodli, Fareedabad, Bhatti, Ahmedpur, Allahabad, Lalan, Dinal, Turri and DOs will remain open from May 5 to 12.

The canals of group two which include Haider, Salar, Jamsher system, Abul Wah system, Hamerji, Old Razidero, Mehtani minors and DOs will be opened from May 12 to 20.

While canals in group three which include Khabbar, Baberloi, Kupri, Faiz Wah system, Phul Wahan, Piryaloi, Faiz Nahar system and D/S Siyal X regulator will be opened from May 20 to 28.

The water rotation system is modified after acute water shortage in three talukas of district Khairpur, Kingri, Khairpur and Gambat.

BOOKED FOR STEALING WATER: The Kot Diji police booked 15 landlords for stealing water from the Ali Bahar Wah, here on Tuesday.

The landlords include Khair Mohammad, Mohammad Hayat, Muneer Ahmed, Gada Hussain, Qadin Bhambhro, Mohammad Sofan Nagrejo, Hazoor Bux, Rasool Bux, Ghulam Qadir, Mohammad Ismail and Feroze Ahmed Rajpar.

KILLED: At least five people were injured here in a head on collision between two motorcycles on the link road near Kumb, Kot Diji Taluka.

The injured include Ahmed Soomro, Ghulam Hur, Ikhtiyar, Nagah Ali, and Gulab Chandio.

Meanwhile, Noor Mohammad, a motorcyclist, was crushed to death while two others were injured here on Tuesday in a head-on collision with a speedy bus near Babarloi.
