School clerk booked for fraud

SHEIKHUPURA, May 8: A junior clerk was booked on Wednesday on the charge of misappropriating a school’s funds.

City Farooqabad police registered the case against junior clerk Zafar of the Government Girls School, Farooqabad, on the report of headmaster Shamshad Akhtar.

A preliminary inquiry revealed that Zafar, with the connivance of some officials of the education department, fraudulently drawn over Rs2,64000 amount from a bank.

ARRESTED: Saddar circle police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested five criminals during a crackdown.

A spokesman told newsmen on Wednesday that on a tip-off, a police party raided and arrested five men involved in drug trafficking and smuggling of illegal weapons.

They were identified as Sarwar Masih, Raashid, Amjad Majeed, Ishfaque alias Kaku and Nousher Bhatti.

The police also recovered huge quantity of narcotics and weapons from them.
