Aga Khan Gym in final

KARACHI, May 7: Aga Khan Gymkhana reached the final of the M.S. Balouch cricket tournament, after beating Tapal CC by six wickets at the Aga Khan Gymkhana ground. Having first use of the wicket, Tapal CC were bowled out for 197 in 30 overs with Mohammad Ali Naqvi (55), Hasan Arshad (40) and Shahid Iqbal (36) among the runs.

Ameer Ali bowling a tidy line and length picked up five wickets for 31 runs. He was ably assisted by Suleman Huda three for 43.

Chasing 198 runs for victory, Aga Khan Gymkhana reached the winning target in 29.1 overs losing six wickets. Suleman Huda also in fine form with the willow hit up 65 runs. Zulfiqar P. Khan chipped in with 50 runs and Javed Mansoor 42. Hasan Arshad bagged two wickets for 10 and left-arm leg-spinner Mohammad Ali Naqvi two for 30.

In another match played a day earlier, fine all round performances by Mohammad Ali Naqvi and Hanif-ur-Rehman helped Tapal CC reach the next round of the KCCA Inter-club Trophy after registering a 40-run victory over A.O. Greens at the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium.

Tapal CC winning the toss and batting first reached 175 for nine in their 35 allotted overs through Hanif-ur-Rehman (55) and Mohammad Ali Naqvi (45). Faraz picked up three wickets for 25 runs.

A.O. Greens in reply were bowled out for 135 runs in 30 overs with Mohammad Ali Naqvi three for 25, Hanif-ur-Rehman two for 30 and Adeel Malik two for 19 doing the damage.

The only two A.O. Green batsmen into double figures were Farhan (30) and Danish (26).
