Zahid declared best marksman


KARACHI, May 6: Ace Navy marksman Zahid Ali was declared best shooter in the 12th National Shooting Championship which concluded at Naval Shooting Complex here Sunday.

Zahid snatched five golds and one silver medal in pistol event to assert his supremacy .

Navy ended the championship with 21 golds, nine silvers and as many bronze, in the five-day contest to emerge champions.

Sindh with three golds, three silvers and as many bronze finished runners-up while Army was placed third with one gold, 12 silvers and six bronze medals.

Sindh’s father/son pair of Captain Mahmood Sultan and Ahmed won the gold in individual trap and skeet contest.

Pakistan Air Force also wrote history by winning first-ever gold medal in the free pistol event. Balochistan ended up with four silver medals.

Punjab, NWFP and Federal Rifle Associations failed to grab any medal.—APP
