LAHORE, May 5: Governor Khalid Maqbool dismissed from service five doctors and a clerk of the Punjab Employees Social Security Institution on Sunday.

A former Faisalabad DHO was also sent on compulsory retirement on charges of irregularities in the purchase of medicines.

The dismissed doctors who belonged to the Gujranwala Social Security Hospital are: TB specialist Dr Muhammad Munir Rana, former medical superintendent Dr Javed Iqbal Naheed, medical officers Dr Shahbaz Mahmood Rana, Dr Naeem Mughal and Dr Jamal Butt, and junior clerk Iftikhar Bajwa.

Former Faisalabad DHO Dr Abdul Khalid was sent on compulsory retirement with direction to pay Rs 22,400 to the government.

Meanwhile, the governor also demoted executive engineer Muhammad Azam Anjum to the rank of sub-divisional officer besides ordering the recovery of Rs 79,771 from him.

Major penalty of reduction to two stages in pay scale and recovery of loss amounting to Rs 79,771 has also been imposed on SDO Abrar Younas Butt.

These officials have been proceeded against on the charges of irregularities in the allotment of tenders/execution of works at the Sheikhupura Highway division.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government transferred and posted three senior doctors.

According to an official handout, Dr Shaheena Ayaz, Director (Mother & Child Health) in the Directorate of Health Services, was posted as the medical superintendent of the Lady Atchison Hospital, Lahore.

Services Hospital’s Principal Medical Officer Dr Ziaur Rahman was posted in the Directorate of Health Services, Punjab, as director (headquarters).

Sheikhupura’s EDO (Health) Dr Mazhar-ud-Din was posted in the Punjab Employees Social Security Institution, Lahore, as medical adviser.
